Stop by and grab a bite to eat at the Historic Bluebird Tavern

The oldest operating tavern in Washington State! - Est. 1887

Bluebird Photos-23.jpg

The Bluebird Inn was constructed in the Spring of 1887, by Jacob N. Jensen for C.E. Flower and Dr. Hamilton Blair for a drugstore and dwelling. Later that Fall it became a saloon, where not only you could enjoy a nice cold beer and enjoy a game of pool, but one could also get a haircut. It has been stated that the Bluebird Inn is the oldest continuous licensed tavern in Washington State. Throughout these past 137 years it has had multiple owners, including “Skinny” Mains. Tale has it “Skinny” loved to play poker all day long and as years went by, got quite round and could not reach his winning’s, therefore cut outs were made in the tables.

One of the current owners is Nelda Flores. You will see her on days the Bluebird Inn is open and looks forward on seeing who is walking through the door, whether returning or new faces. A nice little visit comes with the greeting at the door, and always the kicker question, “What brings you to Bickleton?”.

Come on up to Bickleton, see those beautiful bluebirds, and stop in at the Bluebird Inn. Enjoy one of our juicy, flavorful hamburgers, sit at one of “Skinny” Mains tables, and if time allows, shoot a game of pool on our 1884 Brunswick pool table, brought into the tavern in 1903.

P.S. – We only accept cash or check.
